Our pharmacists have taken additional training to be able to assess and prescribe for common ailments, like your physician would, just in the comfort of your home pharmacy.

Are Pharmacists qualified to prescribe medication?

Absolutely! Pharmacists go through intensive training to become medication experts before they begin practicing. In terms of prescribing medications; Pharmacists have been prescribing medications for many years, however, now the rules are expending to authorize pharmacists more types of ailments that they can prescribe for.

Overall, this helps increase your access to care to get safe and effective treatments.

Do I have to pay to see the Pharmacist?

As long as you have a valid health card, you do not have to pay. Pharmacist assessments are now covered by OHIP!

Will my prescription be covered by OHIP?

This depends on your age, drug plans, and a number of other factors. Although the coverage for these new pharmacy services has changed, your drug coverage should not be impacted by this increase in Pharmacist scope.
